Welcome the New Light in Our Lives on This Full Moon

Dear All,

The 5th of November marks Dev Dipawali, also known as Kartik Purnima in Hindu culture — a day that also aligns with the Beaver’s Full Moon or Frost Moon in Western traditions. Though named differently across cultures, both celebrations carry deep spiritual significance. They invite us to illuminate our inner world, fill our souls with divine light, and prepare our hearts and minds for the year ahead.

I’ll keep this message brief and won’t go into the mythology of Kartik Purnima, but I’d like to share how we can use this sacred day to uplift our spiritual and mental well-being and rejuvenate our inner vitality.

As the powerful 11:11 portal opens, this is a beautiful time to align with higher energies, set meaningful intentions, and explore new manifestation techniques. Let this full moon help you rebalance your inner strength, release what no longer serves you, and welcome renewed clarity and light into your life.

Spiritual Significance of This Full Moon

The Kartik Purnima Full Moon ushers in a new season — a time when the cosmos awakens and the energies around us align to support new beginnings and auspicious ventures. It is believed that on this sacred day, the River Ganga transforms her waters into nectar. Spiritually, this symbolizes divine purity and renewal. From a natural perspective, as the seasons shift and trees shed their leaves, the Ganga carries with her the essence of healing herbs and fallen foliage from the Himalayas, enriching her waters with nature’s medicine — perhaps giving rise to this beautiful belief.

Similarly, in Western traditions, this moon is known as the Beaver’s Moon or Frost Moon. It reflects the wisdom of nature’s cycles — the beaver gathers and hides seeds, some of which are forgotten, only to sprout later into new life. This quiet act mirrors the eternal rhythm of creation and renewal between Mother Nature and her creatures. The Frost Moon also signals the earth’s gentle descent into winter — as temperatures drop and the first hints of snow appear, we are reminded to slow down, preserve our energy, and honor the natural cycle of rest and rebirth

What This Moon Brings Us

This Full Moon ushers in transformation — inspiring shifts within our body, work patterns, and daily habits. It invites us to turn inward and reflect, to release the limiting beliefs we’ve carried through this year or from the past, and to open ourselves to the divine and cosmic energies flowing through us — from the crown of the head down to the spine.

This is a time to rest, reset, and nurture yourself. The universe encourages a gentle pause — to honor how far you’ve come and to prepare for what’s next. As the celestial energies align, new opportunities may unfold, allowing you to finally witness the fruits of your perseverance and devotion.

This moon reminds you to harness your inner power, embrace your unique abilities, and radiate your light freely into the world. Let your warmth guide others — and illuminate your own path forward.

How We Can Utilize This Day’s Pious Energy

Here are some simple yet powerful practices you can follow to strengthen your spiritual connection and align your inner energies on this sacred Full Moon day:

  1. Sacred Bath Ritual:
If possible, take a dip in the holy River Ganga. If not, prepare a purifying bath at home by mixing a few drops of Ganga water (if available), raw milk, a pinch of turmeric, and some rose water or rose petals in your bucket. This ritual helps cleanse not only the body but also the aura.
  2. Offer Arghya to the Sun (Surya Arghya):
Offering water to the rising Sun energizes your aura and awakens inner vitality. Add a small piece of jaggery and a red flower to the water before offering — this amplifies the warmth and divine blessings of the Sun.
  3. Morning Invocation:
Begin your day by connecting with divine and cosmic energies. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and ask the Universe to bless you with purity, strength, and light.
  4. Light Offering (Deepdaan):
Deepdaan — the offering of lamps — holds profound significance. Traditionally performed on the ghats of Varanasi, it symbolizes the dispelling of darkness within and around us. You can also perform this ritual at home by lighting lamps or candles to bring light, warmth, and harmony into your space.
  5. Moon Gazing and Chanting:
End your day with Chandra Darshan (moon gazing) and chant Om Namah Shivaya. This calms the mind, balances emotions, and helps you connect deeply with the tranquil lunar energy.

For Those Who Wish to Go One Step Further

If you’d like to deepen your spiritual connection on this sacred Full Moon, here’s a simple yet powerful ritual to elevate your energy and align with the cosmos:

  1. Begin with a Spiritual Bath:
Start your day by taking a purifying bath. As you do, express your gratitude to Mother Nature and the Universe. Ask for their guidance to help you connect deeply with yourself and stay aligned with your purpose.
  2. Evening Ritual:
As the evening sets in, light a diya and gently smudge your space with incense or sage. While doing so, speak affirmations that infuse your surroundings with positivity and light.
  3. Meditation and Visualization:
Sit comfortably and meditate on the sound of Om or chant the Green Tara Mantra. Visualize a radiant white light entering through your crown, flowing down your spine, and slowly spreading through every cell of your body — filling you with peace, purity, and divine energy.
  4. Releasing Ritual:
Write down one or two fears or limiting beliefs on a piece of paper. Cross them out and say aloud, “I let go of this fear.” Replace them with a positive affirmation — words that empower and uplift you. Then, safely burn the paper and release the ashes into running water, symbolizing the complete release of old energies.

Perform this ritual under the gentle glow of the moon — without artificial light if possible. Let the moonlight bathe your body for a few minutes, absorbing its calm and luminous energy. Allow the diya to stay lit in your space until it naturally extinguishes.

  • Affirm Before Sleep:
Wash your hands after completing the ritual and, before going to bed, affirm:
“I am aligned. My body and soul radiate with divine cosmic power. I am shining in all areas of my life. Thank you, Universe, for blessing me. I love you. Thank you.”
  • Additional Practices:
Don’t forget to charge your crystals under the moonlight and prepare your moon water to harness this energy for the days ahead.

May this sacred practice leave you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, and recharged. Every celestial event occurs with divine purpose — use this one to grow, evolve, and reconnect with the rhythms of nature. After all, we are an inseparable part of this cosmic dance.

With love and light,
Shweta
