Vasant Panchami: Welcoming the Blessings of Maa Saraswati, Wisdom & Prosperity

Welcome the blessings of Maa Saraswati with energy of Sun, Jupiter, Mercury  this Vasant Panchami

Before I start any important information, I would like to write about why do we celebrate vasant Panchami. It is really sad to see that such significant days have shrinked their importance only to some rituals which hardly are followed in our culture now and slowly slowly either fading away or have become part of Instagram reels and remedies only. Lately vasant Panchami is only known to wear yellow clothes that’s it.

Vasant Panchami is a beautiful festival that marks the beginning of spring season. The days officially begins when earth finally starts feeling the warmth of sun shine and the foggy and dence energy  starts to fade as it has served it purpose to restore and hibernate the mother earth. Now the mother nature is finally ready to restart blooming. Trees start budding fresh leaves and the crop will start blooming in fresh yellow colour.

Vasant Panchami is also known as Saraswati Puja in many parts of India as we worship Maa Saraswati today. When I think of Vasant Panchami, I refresh the memories from my childhood when Havan was performed in our school. We were asked to wear yellow clothes and later our teachers will ask us to offer yellow flowers to ma saraswati and they put a turmeric tika on our foreheads. Yellow rice with saffron, dry fruits and sweet was cooked at home and honestly I never liked it.

Vasant Panchami not just resets mother nature but it also gives you  a chance to reflect and connect with your wisdom.

Today time has changed a lot. Where knowledge is everywhere but wisdom is missing. You have solution of everything just one click away but lacking the ability to fix things by your own. We have several ways to multiply ur wealth but humbleness is missing.

Vasant Panchami is a soft reminder to understand the value of wisdom. Wisdom is not just about having a fancy degree or going to expensive university. In our culture it is said:

Vidhya dadati vinayam

Vinayam dadati patratam.

Patratvat dhanamapnoti

Dhanat dharmam tatah sukham

So wisdom is that makes you humble, deserving, wealthy and intellectual and happy.

That’s why we worship maa saraswati. It is sad that nowdays our saraswati is limited either only in some music school or some old college temple. Now every one wants to celebrate festivals for a reason and in a way to have more money, wealth. Noone wants to celebrate if Insagram reel doesn’t give them a reason to attract more money on a particular day.

We want to rush, but do not want to pause even for a moment to connect with our senses. Wisdom brings it. Maa saraswati who has a veena, gives harmony, white flower aymbolising peace and white saree as purity and high values also holds veda, to connect you with wisdom in a meaningful way.

She sits on a swan which symbolises eternal love and loyalty. The yellow colour which activates your Jupiter and sun,  planet of vastness, abundance, leadership and discipline. This day is full of prosperity in each area of your life. Also the fifth day that is connected to mercury, activated the planet for growth, flow of wealth not just in nature but also in our lives. As we say in Hindi Zubaan pe Saraswati baithna, means the power of mercury where your communication becomes the power  engine to change the destiny.

Understand the value and depth of our culture.  Celebrate Maa Saraswati to empower your inner wisdom to attract prosperity in each area of your life. If you cant perform a havan, then sit down with yourself by lighting  a candle or diya. Spend some time in nature if possible, do some plantation. Take the books from your shelves you haven’t touched since long and bow down like you used to do in school days if your book fell down.Express your gratitude to your school. Best way is to adopt the education of some child if your finances allow.

But celebrate… And yes introduce your kids to our rich culture and gift them a picture of maa saraswati to welcome eternal wisdom and prosperity in their lives.

I wish you all a bright, abundant and full of wisdom Vasant Panchami.

Shubh Vasant Panchami

Love

Shweta
